Ayr's new cinema is set to open in the town next month, according to MSP Siobhian Brown.
We previously reported in August that Merlin Cinemas bought the venue in Burns Statue Square after it was closed down by Odeon in May 2023.
Merlin announced that the new cinema would be known as Astoria Ayr.
The company have been aiming to get the four-screen cinema open as soon as possible after a refresh and rebrand.
MSP Siobhian Brown has now announced that the opening date could be next month.
The SNP representative said: "The Astoria Cinema, Ayr opening February 2024.
"That’s the new name of the former Odeon, which Merlin Cinemas took charge of last year.
"The name dates back to 1938 when the Astoria became an iconic addition to Ayr’s streetscape.
"The Astoria will show mainstream film releases on date with some alternative programming across the four screens.
"The cinema will be refreshed and rebranded with building renovations coming later. This news is both welcome and exciting."
