The body of a woman has been found this afternoon (Thursday) in the Rozelle Park area of Ayr.
Police say the body is yet to be formally identified but the family of Laura Wilkie has been made aware.
The 43-year-old has been missing from the town since Tuesday, December 19, with officers searching for her whereabouts over the past two weeks.
Police say the death is being treated as unexplained.
A spokesperson said: "The body of a woman was found early this afternoon in the area of Rozelle Park in Ayr.
"She has yet to be formally identified but the family of Laura Wilkie, 43, who had been reported missing on Tuesday, 19 December, has been made aware.
"The death is being treated as unexplained."
