Ayr Advertiser: Xmas baby

Prestwick couple Lorna and Stuart thought baby Cara would be their extra special festive present in 2003, but the newest member of the family made her parents wait until Boxing Day before making her big entrance.

Cara, who weighed in at 7lbs 5oz, was already two weeks and three days overdue when her mum went into labour on Christmas Eve.

Ayr Advertiser: Bute House

St Cuthbert’s Primary pupil Alice-May Morris, 11, was a special guest of First Minister Jack McConnell at his Bute House home.

Her brilliant Christmas card design won a competition organised by local MSP Cathy Jamieson and MP George Foulkes and she travelled to Edinburgh with her mum and younger sister Annie to meet the First Minister.

Ayr Advertiser: Wedding

Ayrshire’s Burns Cottage hosted its first ever wedding on New Year’s Eve 2003.

Perthshire Burns fans David MacDonald and Sheila McNaughton, both 50, tied the knot using Rabbie’s music and poems in the service.

Ayr Advertiser: Crosshouse

Crosshouse Hospital’s renal and peritoneal dialysis units received a generous donation from Ayr Amateur Opera Company in early 2004.

Janice McKellar, president of AAOC, and Euan Mitchell, a member of the executive committee, presented hospital staff with a handsome cheque for £1,000.

Ayr Town Hall was packed out on Saturday, December 20, 2003 for the Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra's annual Christmas Concert, under musical director Alistair McCulloch.

Ayr Advertiser: NNe'erday baby

Logan Robert Cameron was the first baby to be born in the whole of Ayrshire in 2004.

The little lad was born at 4.55am on New Year’s Day and weighed in at 7lb 12oz.

Baby Logan was the first child of Dundonald couple Joanne Prout, an administrator, and Stuart Cameron, a pipe fitter.
