Belmont Academy is holding a 'give blood' session between Christmas and New Year.

The session aims to ensure Scotland has adequate blood supplies for 2024.

The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service hopes to welcome 480 donors and has many appointments left for December 28 and 29.

Debbie McNaughton, associate director of Donor and Transport Services, said: "We do understand people are busy and have a lot on at this time.

"However, we want to remind people about the need for these essential blood components because they will not take a rest over the festive period.

"Our appointment grids are open and we are asking everyone to book their festive appointment now.

"It’s very important donors come forward throughout December to ensure Scottish hospitals are well stocked."
