Ayr station has been closed due to unsafe conditions, ScotRail has confirmed.

The rail provider confirmed that they cannot run their shuttle train service between Prestwick Town and Ayr.

However, it has been confirmed that a bus shuttle will run between the two stations departing at 25 and 55 minutes past the hour from Ayr, and 25 and 55 minutes past the hour from Prestwick.

The news comes hours after South Ayrshire Council said Station Bridge Road was expected to reopen, at least in part, on Wednesday following September's devastating fire at the Station Hotel building.
