It's the most wonderful time of the year...and excited children at Kilbarchan Primary can't wait for the festivities to start.

As Santa prepares to make his arrival at the homes of good little boys and girls across Renfrewshire, The Gazette headed along to the school to find out what pupils there hope to wake up to on the big day.

While all seven are hoping to find some new toys in their Christmas stockings, they also said it is a chance to spend quality time with their loved ones.

Some tasty festive food is also on the menu for children as the countdown to December 25 gathers pace.

Everyone at The Gazette wishes pupils and staff at Kilbarchan Primary a very merry Christmas and all the best for the new year when it arrives.

Anna-Katerina Westbrook

The Gazette:

Primary one pupil Anna-Katerina Westbrook is looking forward to waking up on Christmas morning to discover that Santa has paid a visit.

The five-year-old has sent a list full of goodies and is hopeful the man in red will bring her more toys she can play with over the holidays.

She is also keeping an eye on the weather as the big day approaches.

Anna-Katerina said: "I'm most looking forward to playing with my presents.

"I'm hoping to get a ginormous doll house and I've also asked for a Barbie wardrobe.

"I want to build a snowman if it snows."

As well as opening her gifts, Anna-Katerina plans to tuck into tasty food with her family on the big day.

She said: "My favourite part of Christmas dinner is the turkey and gravy."

Anna-Katerina also enjoys getting involved in arts and crafts activities over the festive period.

She added: "Sometimes I make reindeer out of paper and I usually need some help with the reindeer ears."

Oliver Morrison

The Gazette:

The festive season excitement is building for six-year-old Oliver Morrison, who simply can't wait to open his gifts when Christmas Day arrives.

While he is looking forward to festive food, the primary two pupil is even more excited about the prospect of Santa delivering some of the presents he included on this year's festive wishlist.

These include Batman-themed Imaginexts, a line of toys created by Fisher-Price that are known for their imaginative and interactive playsets.

Oliver said: "I'm most looking forward to opening up my presents.

"I've asked for Batman Imaginexts."

Oliver is excited about spending Christmas Day with his loved ones and seeing his extended family.

He is also planning to spend some quality time in front of the television and watch his favourite festive films.

Oliver said: "My family comes over and we celebrate Christmas.

"I like watching films like Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas."

Oliver is also keeping his fingers crossed for a white Christmas, so he can head outside and have a snowball fight.

Rebecca McKenzie

The Gazette:

Seven-year-old Rebecca McKenzie is looking forward to having a magical time with one of her presents this Christmas.

At the top of the primary three pupil's wishlist this year is a book that explores the beloved characters and iconic locations from the Harry Potter franchise.

Rebecca is also hoping Santa will bring her a special bracelet to wear.

She said: "I'm looking forward to opening my presents on Christmas morning.

"I've asked for the Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac and a Pandora bracelet.

"I finished the sixth Harry Potter book recently and I've now started the seventh book."

Rebecca is also looking forward to enjoying a big dinner with her loved ones on Christmas day.

She said: "Usually my grandad and gran come over with their presents in the morning and then they come to the dinner.

"I'm hoping to have a good dinner and my favourite food is sausages."

Rebecca is keen to make a snow-duck with her family if it is a white Christmas.

Rory Shaw

The Gazette:

Eight-year-old Rory Shaw thinks it will bring even more fun to his holiday season if Santa gives him a surprise gift.

The primary four pupil also hopes to get the latest Nintendo video games from the man in red.

Rory reckons the best Christmas gift he has ever been given was the hugely popular sandbox video game Minecraft.

He said: "I'm most looking forward to getting presents and going over to my gran and grandpa's on Christmas Eve.

"I've asked for Nintendo games and a surprise.

"I have a Nintendo Switch, I like playing my football video game and I got Flight Simulator recently."

Rory can't wait to tuck into a tasty turkey dinner with his family on Christmas Day.

He also plans to take part in a variety of fun activities with his loved ones over the festive period.

Rory said: "My favourite food is roast beef, turkey and pigs in blankets.

"My favourite part of Christmas is playing board games with my family and sometimes we watch a movie together."

Innes Stevenson

The Gazette:

Nine-year-old Innes Stevenson is hoping that he will be treated to a brand new pair of football boots for Christmas.

The sporty primary five pupil enjoys playing the beautiful game with his friends and can't wait for the festivities to kick off.

Innes is especially excited about seeing his grandparents ahead of the big day.

He said: "I’m most looking forward to meeting family and friends.

"I'm going to see my gran and papa on Christmas Eve.

"I've asked for a pair of football boots because I’m a big football fan.

"I support two teams, Chelsea and St Mirren."

Innes is looking forward to a relaxed Christmas Day and tasty dinner with his family.

He is also hoping for a white Christmas to play in the snow with his friends.

Innes said: "We normally stay in our jammies most of the day and the ham is my favourite part of Christmas dinner.

"I'd like to go out with my friends and have a snowball fight."

Myla McNaughton

The Gazette:

Myla McNaughton is planning to wrap up extra warm after Christmas, provided Santa has been told about the presents on her wishlist.

Among the presents the 10-year-old hopes to find on the morning of December 25 is a new fluffy duvet cover.

Myla is also looking forward to spending time with her extended family.

The primary six pupil said: "On Christmas Day, my grandparents come around and give presents to me.

"I'm looking forward to seeing my family because I don't see my uncle much but he comes on Christmas Day.

"I've asked for a new fluffy duvet cover and some nice clothes.

"I got a watch last year, which is probably my favourite Christmas gift so far."

Myla is excited about the prospect of Christmas dinner, when she will be tucking into some traditional treats.

Her family also enjoy watching a new film in the lead up to the festivities.

Myla said: "We usually go to the cinema on Christmas Eve.

"My favourite food is Yorkshire puddings because they are soft to eat."

Rachel Byrne

The Gazette:

Rachel Byrne is hoping to put her creative skills to good use this Christmas by making some happy memories.

The 11-year-old has set her sights on an art and design book, which she hopes will be as enjoyable to use as the portable drum set she shared with her brother during a previous Christmas.

Rachel's family also enjoy taking a special trip to Portencross Beach, in West Kilbride, Ayrshire, on Christmas Day.

The primary seven pupil said: "I'm hoping to get an art and design book, because I do fashion classes, and me and mum draw together.

"My favourite thing about Christmas is that you can just sit there with presents and family, and just not have to worry about anything too serious.

"We usually go to the beach to watch the massive waves from the car with food."

Rachel is also looking forward to tucking into a Christmas dinner with a difference this year.

She said: "We get dinner from a curry house on Christmas, we normally get three types of curry, a pizza and burgers."
