Film fans are in for a festive treat this month as Friends of the Broadway bring four Christmas classics to the screen in Prestwick.

The group behind the restoration of the town's art deco Broadway Cinema, will be showing the movies on December 16 and 17 at Prestwick Academy.

On Saturday, December 16 there will be a showing of Will Ferrell's 'Elf', at 2.30pm. That film was selected by a community vote.

Then at 7pm, the academy will host a showing of James Stewart's classic 'It's A Wonderful Life', selected by the Prestwick students.

The following afternoon, at 2.30pm, will see another community choice 'A Muppet Christmas Carol'.

The final movie 'Die Hard', starring Bruce Willis, is the director's choice and starts at 7pm. Not the most obvious festive fayre, but the action movie does indeed take place at Christmas time.

Tickets for each film are £7.
