CHILDREN in Maybole have a special Christmas event to look forward to this weekend.

Breakfast with Santa, at the Carrick Centre in Maybole, has been extended this year to include making reindeer dust, creating a hot-chocolate cone, icing a Christmas cookie, a breakfast and a visit to see Santa.

And the entry fee for this year's event will be exactly the same as the 2022 breakfast - thanks to members of the local community.

The event takes place this Saturday, December 2, from 10am until 12 noon.

Maybole Parish Church members have given a generous donation of £300 to bring the cost down to the same as last year - £6 a head.

Heather Stowe from the Carrick Centre said: “We appreciate the congregation's support of the Carrick Centre and the families of Maybole and the villages - thank you!

“Please call 01655 883222 between 9am and 2pm, or come in to book your time with Santa.

“Like the community, we are experiencing a sharp increase in our costs - food supplies, gas and electricity, and repairs to the building.

"However, we are committed to continuing to serve our community as everyone struggles through this cost of living crisis.

"That is why we continue to seek grants – such as the cost of living grant we pursued through the National Lottery where we were able to provide free meals to over 150 children and a low cost meal and warm place for parents.

“We also recently welcomed a new service from Ayrshire Hospice who come in and use the Centre for individuals with life limiting illness.

"We will continue to seek funds to support the community through these difficult times.

"If anyone would like to make a donation they can do so through our webpage www.carrickcentre.co.uk or by calling us on 01655 883222.”
