Police officers from Ayrshire's Road Policing and Preventions and Interventions team joined up with other forces for a training event held by the National Construction & Agricultural Theft Team.
The opportunity provided experts across the industries to come together, learn and share expert advice on detecting the criminal networks operating across the UK.
Officers heard that identification of stolen agricultural plant has been made easier with forensic marking technology.
Tamper-evident warning labels, forensic DNA, Datadots and RFID tags permanently mark machinery - making it identifiable to the police and reducing their attraction to thieves.
