A ganja man was caught supplying bags of cannabis in Prestwick - at an estimated total street value of almost £70k. 

Kieran Howie awaits sentence after admitting being concerned in the supply of class B cannabis after the cops raided his home in McNeil Avenue on June 17, 2022. 

The 33-year-old appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court this month after police recovered the heavy haul of the drug, having held observations on his address. 

After pleading guilty to the charge, the procurator fiscal depute said: “He first attended on petition warrant. The case was continued for further examination and [he was] released on bail. 

“By way of background, police received intelligence regarding a quantity of illegal drugs. 

“Police witness took observations of the property in anticipation for a warrant. 

“At 6.31pm he was observed possessing a large cardboard box.  

“Due to the urgency, they entered identifying themselves as police officers.  

“Officers searched the property at 10.28pm in possession of a warrant searching while the accused was present. 

"At 10.40pm in a living room cabinet police recovered a bag of 17.9g of cannabis.

"Police recovered three vacuum bags of herbal cannabis weighing 1kg, valued at £3,800 each.

“The total amount subdivided to two gram deals would have a potential value of £69,540.

"He made no comment when arrested and the accused interviewed, cautioned and charged." 

The procurator fiscal made a verbal confiscation motion for a further proceeds of crime hearing.

Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart said: “I will defer for criminal justice social work reports. There is a social worker in court - speak to her before you leave. 

“Be as open, truthful and honest as it can be to your benefit.” 

Bail was continued and he will return to court at a later date.
