A Santa Dash charity run is set to take place in Troon.

The Monkton Milers are a volunteer led running group with more than 100 members ranging from beginners to experienced runners who meet several times a week for running activities.

And they are excited to invite the wider community to their 4th Annual 5km Santa Dash in just a few weeks.

At 10am on Sunday, December 3, runners and walkers will set off from South Beach in Troon for for a festive themed fun run in aid of Ayrshire Support Group, run by Parkinson’s UK in Scotland.

Parkinson’s is a progressive neurological condition that affects around 153,000 people in the UK and the charity are fighting hard to find a cure, as well supporting people with Parkinson’s to live as well as possible.

Parkinson’s UK are active in every council area in Scotland and have over 40 local groups across the country, but the one in Ayrshire is of particular importance to the Monkton Milers, as the condition has impacted the lives of several of their runners who have been supported by the group.

If you would like to join in with the local event, entries are now open.

All participants will receive a medal and all proceeds will be donated directly to the Ayrshire Parkinson’s Support Group.

Rachel Cox, chairperson and coach at Monkton Milers, said: "We are so excited about our Santa Dash and cannot wait to meet all our participants for what will be our biggest Santa Dash yet.

"We are aiming to raise £1000 for the charity that’s close to our hearts, and encourage anyone that fancies joining in to sign up and be part of this special day.”
