A major supermarket chain with stores across Ayrshire will shut on boxing day as a thank-you to staff.
Aldi, which has shops in Stewarton, Kilmarnock, Prestwick, Ayr, Irvine and Saltcoats, will reopen on Wednesday, December 27.
Shoppers are being advised to stock up on essentials before that date, with stores also closed on Christmas Day.
Richard Thornton, communications director at Aldi UK, said: “We recognise that Christmas is an important time for many of our colleagues and keeping our stores closed on Boxing Day gives them more time to spend with their families."
“Customers will have plenty to look forward to in the run-up to Christmas, with more of Aldi’s brand-new Christmas ranges arriving in stores over the next few weeks.”
The supermarket has just brought back its iconic Kevin the carrot mascot in its new Christmas advert featuring Willy Wonka.
Aldi is also set to hire extra workers in the run-up to the festive period.
