POLICE have tonight confirmed that a body has been found in Galloway Forest.
Formal identification is yet to take place however officers say that the family of missing Ayr man Kirk Hutcheson have been informed.
Police Scotland say that the body was discovered today, Wednesday November 1 at around 4.50pm and that there are no apparent suspicious circumstances.
Kirk had previously been reported missing after the 53-year-old was last seen at his home in the Castehill area of the town on Monday, October 30.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50pm on Wednesday, November 1, the body of a man was found in the Galloway Forest.
“Formal identification has yet to take place but the family of Kirk Hutcheson, reported missing from Ayr, have been informed.
“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
