The Ayrshire Bowling Association recently presented a cheque for £3,600 to the Ayrshire Hospice after supporting the charity for its 2023 season.

President of the ABA, Colin Milroy and vice president Robert McCulloch met with Ayrshire Hospice senior fundraising officer, Elaine Thomson, to hand over the cheque.

Colin said: “My mother had a two-week respite stay in Ayrshire Hospice and I promised her that at some point I would do something for the charity and when I became president this year, it gave me that opportunity and network to do so.”

Elaine added: “Colin was keen to let us know that the £3,600 raised this year was the most by any serving president of the Ayrshire Bowling Association.

“Thank you to everyone at ABA and Troon Bowling Club who helped raise this fantastic total for the year and in particular Robert and Barbara McCulloch, Bobby Muir, and Billy and Margaret McKay who donated an 18-year-old bottle of malt whisky to auction off.”

The fundraising was also supported by a number of local businesses Pro-Turf, Maharani, B.J’s, Hawkwind Sports and Andrew Kerr Auto for being programme sponsors at the Finals Day, Troon Bowling Club for hosting and a further donation from Danny Noble.
