A caring Prestwick youngster has shown her sense of kindness through an annual shoe box appeal.

Craigie Symington Parish Church and Prestwick South Parish Church have concluded their annual Blythswood Care Shoe Box Appeal, where boxes filled with care goods are sent to people who need them.

Almost 150 shoe boxes were donated along with bags of individual items, and in addition, over £370 was donated to assist with transportation costs.

One of the young members at Prestwick South, Emmie Mitchell, embraced the Shoe Box appeal with a sense of enthusiasm and kindness.

A statement said: "Over the past few years Emmie has donated hundreds of shoe boxes and this year was no different.

"Emmie brought to Prestwick South Parish Church an unbelievable 70 shoe boxes for the 2023 appeal. Well done to Emmie and what a great example she is to us all.

"This year Blythswood Care marks 30 years of sending shoe boxes to countries where sadly poverty and deprivation are so apparent.

"It is now estimated that 2.5 million shoe boxes have been donated during the past 30 years.

"In 2023 the shoe boxes will primarily be distributed as Christmas to men, women and children in many Eastern European countries such as Albania, Romania and Ukraine."
