AN AYR couple welcomed a special visitor to their home to help them celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary.
Alex and Marion Cairns are both from Ayr, and Alex is a former South Ayrshire councillor, having represented the old Ayr Whitletts ward until 2007.
They met in the Bobby Jones Dance Hall and married at the Holy Trinity Church in the town.
The couple celebrated their 60 years milestone at Forehill Bowling Club, surrounded by family members and friends.
The local authority's depute provost, Mary Kilpatrick, who served alongside Alex in the council chambers, visited the happy couple to congratulate them on their anniversary and presented them with a bouquet of flowers.
