A MAN has appeared in court charged with domestic abuse – and with causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
David McQuaker faced two charges during a private petition hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court.
The 32-year-old, of is Ayr, is alleged to have caused unnecessary suffering as a person who is responsible for an animal, in breach of the Animal Health and Welfare (Scotland) Act S19 (2)].
He faced a second charge of engaging in a course of behaviour which was abusive of a partner or ex-partner, under section 1 of the Domestic Abuse (Scotland) Act 2018.
The accused entered no plea to the Crown's allegations, and was committed for further examination and released on bail.
He will return to court at a later date with his next appearance still to be confirmed.
