A dog has died after being struck by a police car in the centre of Ayr.
Police Scotland said the vehicle hit the dog on Main Street just after 8.30pm on Thursday, October 18.
The police vehicle was responding to an emergency call at the time.
The dog was hurried to a vet, but it later passed away.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 8.35pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, a police vehicle, which was responding to an emergency call, was involved in a crash involving a dog on Main Street in Ayr.
"The dog was conveyed to the vets, however, it died a short time later.”
