The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight comes to the shore front on Friday, September 8 with a ‘special night glow’.

Friday evening’s displays will run from 7:15pm – 9pm and the line up for the event has now been confirmed.

Gravity Industries, the key STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) focussed display, will be first up on Friday night.

The team will showcase their Jet Suit, turning something from a Hollywood movie into reality.

Crowds should also prepare for the RAF Black Jack Typhoon, as the extremely agile, multi-role combat aircraft sweeps across the skies.

The Calidus Autgyro is a part aeroplane and part helicopter which also take off across the shoreline on Friday night.

Airbourne Pyrotechnics will then light up the darkening sky with their colourful lights and pyrotechnics that are attached to the tips of their wings.

The crowd can also look forward to a special tethered night glow, thanks to the organisers of Strathaven Balloon Festival.

Their hot air balloon will be illuminated, creating a glow as the sun goes down.

The event starts from 4pm where the Festival Village will officially open.

Food and drink will also be on offer before the aerial displays start at 7:15pm.

Parking is half price on Friday, at just £5 per car.  Book in advance now at www.ayrshow.co.uk.

South Ayrshire Council’s Director of Strategic Change and Communities, Jane Bradley, said: “It’s absolutely wonderful to bring such a large-scale, three-day event to Ayr.

"There will be loads to see and do in our Festival Village from 4pm on Friday 8 September, and we’ve got some impressive ariel displays lined-up from 7:15pm.

"So, it’ll be the perfect way to start your festival weekend.

"I’m particularly looking forward to the Airbourne Pyrotechnics and the tethered hot air balloon displays that will create the ‘special night glow’ as the light begins to fade.”
