Essential carriageway patching is taking place on the major A77 road near Turnberry later this week.

Amey is undertaking the works on the A77 Girvan Road near Turnberry, between the South Gateway and the A719 Maidens Road.

The works will take place from Wednesday, August 30 until Saturday, September 2, between 7pm and 6am each night.

The work will be carried out using overnight convoys. Traffic heading northbound and southbound respectively will be brought to a halt in advance of the road works and led in single file through the site by an appropriately signed works vehicle. Traffic, travelling through the work site, will be restricted to 10mph.

For residents with properties accessed via Drumbeg Road, and those on Girvan Road directly affected by works, escorted access to and from properties will be provided.

An Amey spokesperson said: "We thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place.

"Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.

"Please note, all schemes are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable."
