ScotRail is adding more seats on trains for customers travelling to the upcoming Festival of Flight.

Over the weekend of Saturday, September 9 and Sunday, September 10, more seats will be added to services between Glasgow Central and Ayr to support The International Airshow – Festival of Flight.

Customers should be aware that services along the route are expected to be much busier than normal.

With queuing systems expected to be in place at key stations along the route, customers are being advised to allow extra time to make their journey.

ScotRail will have extra staff on hand to assist customers, and the train operator is reminding everyone that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations.

More seats will also be added to train services for the Largs Viking Festival this weekend (September 2).

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “To help the festival run smoothly, we’re adding more seats to trains in Inverclyde and Ayrshire over the next two weekends, but services will be busier than normal, so customers should plan ahead and leave plenty of time for travel.

“I’d encourage everyone to purchase their train tickets before boarding to make their travel experience as smooth as possible.

"The mTicket system, available on the ScotRail app, offers a convenient way to secure your tickets and download them straight to your mobile phone, avoiding any unnecessary queues on the day.”
