South Ayrshire Council has confirmed yet another aerial display for The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight – the Gazelle Squadron.

Festival-goers can expect to see no less than four Gazelle helicopters during the team’s display at Ayr shore front next month.

The Gazelle helicopter was designed by Aerospatiale in the South of France in the late 1960s.  It has a cruising speed of 164 mph and a maximum speed of 193 mph, and still holds the record as the fastest single engine helicopter manufactured to date.

CEO of theSKYLAB, Dr Geoff Coxon said: “We are delighted to have the Gazelle Squadron at the Ayr Show. The team will put on a great display and all being well, they may have a few surprises in store for us too. Fingers crossed!”

South Ayrshire Council’s Director of Strategic Change and Communities, Jane Bradley, said: “The Gazelle Squadron is a great addition to our display itinerary for the air show.  The team have only recently been performing with four helicopters, so it’ll be a privilege to have them all at the festival.”

The International Ayr Show – Festival of Flight will take place at Ayr’s Low Green between Friday 8 – Sunday 10 September 2023.
