A South Ayrshire care home boss is in the running for a prestigious award.
Home care company boss, Suhail Rehman, has been shortlisted after his ten years of supporting older people across Scotland and giving them the chance to stay living at home if they require care was recognised.
Suhail is in the running for a BFA HSBC British Franchise Award, nominated in the ‘HSBC Best in Class Multi Unit, Single Brand’ category. Dubbed ‘the Oscars of the franchise industry’, the awards celebrate excellence in ethical franchising.
Setting up Home Instead Glasgow North in 2013, Suhail has spent the last decade building an empire across Scotland, now owning seven Home Instead offices (including Home Instead South Ayrshire and Kilmarnock) which offer a range of home care, from personal care, to dementia, to companionship.
It provides an alternative to care homes for older people who need support but want to stay in their beloved homes.
Suhail plays a key part in the communities his Home Instead businesses are based.
This includes running seven memory cafes which provide a safe and supportive environment for people living with dementia and their families.
Keen to support his care professionals as much as possible, Suhail established a ‘Care Professional Council’ giving those on the frontline the chance to feed back their experiences to managers, ensuring satisfied employees and well-supported clients.
Suhail said: “It has certainly been an eventful decade as I’ve grown my Home Instead empire, and it’s fantastic to mark this milestone with an award nomination.
“Franchising is such a worthwhile route to go down for anyone keen to undergo a business venture. I’m so pleased that these awards exist; they can highlight those that have had success in franchising and inspire others to embark on this exciting journey.”
Pip Wilkins, chief executive of the BFA, said: “We would like to offer our enormous congratulations to all this year’s finalists.
"We received a huge amount of entries, and it was wonderful to read of all the amazing work being done in the UK franchising sector.
"We applaud our finalists for their enthusiasm, dedication and tenacity and for continuing to uphold the highest standards of the association.”
