Two lucky Troon care home residents were recently invited to Royal Troon Golf Club for a day out.

Two residents of Belhaven House Care Home Troon, Ronald Stewart and Fiona MacDonald were invited to the clubhouse to help celebrate the 100 year anniversary since the first Open was held at the club.

Ronald and Fiona were shown around the house by two stewards who explained about the Club’s history, trophies and portraits.

Both residents were reportedly very interested and showed good knowledge about golf.

The stewards also discussed their preparations for the Open, which is coming to Royal Troon next year - the 10th time the course has hosted the championship.

To end the afternoon an tea was given in one of the dining rooms which Ronald and Fiona thoroughly appreciated.
