AYRSHIRE'S beer lovers have chosen a craft brewer based in Ayr as their Brewery of the Year.

Members of the Ayrshire and Wigtownshire branch of CAMRA - the Campaign for Real Ale - selected the Ayr Brewing Company as the winner of their 2023 prize.

The micro brewery's owner, Anthony Valenti, produced his first brew in October 2009 - and soon began to accumulate a plethora of awards, both for his core range and for his innovative seasonal ales.

The local CAMRA branch previously gave the firm its prizes for Beer of the Year in 2021 and Pub of the Year in 2022.

The company, which operates out of the Glen Park Hotel in Racecourse Road, now produces around 60 casks of ale every week and supplies pubs across the UK.

A spokesperson for the Ayrshire and Wigtownshire branch of CAMRA said: "The awards were recognition on a national level for the brewery's quality ales, presented by the Campaign for Real Ale and the Society of Independent Brewers - high accolades from some of the top judges.

"The latest award is for Brewery Of The Year 2023, a well deserved and equally well received award presented by Ayrshire and Wigtownshire CAMRA."

Anthony was presented with the award by the local branch's vice-chair, Ronnie Beveridge.
