An open exhibition detailing the history of smugglers in Ballantrae is coming to the village later this month.
Author and historian Frances Wilkins, who has penned novels including 'Ballantrae's Smuggling Story', will give a talk and showcase her travelling exhibition in the Community Hall.
She will also be signing copies of her new book 'The Carrick Smugglers', which details the history of smuggling across a wider area of Ayrshire.
In the 18th century Ballantrae was well known as a place where contraband was brought to shore in small boats and distributed locally or transported further inland.
The event, hosted by the Ballantrae History Group, will take place on Sunday, July 30 between 2pm and 4pm.
Frances said: “It is always pleasing to return to Ballantrae, the source of so many exciting smuggling stories.
"This will be my last visit because, after nearly 32 years of smuggling, I have decided to hang up my laptop."
