Ayrshire MSP Sharon Dowey has been appointed deputy justice spokesperson.
The South of Scotland Conservative MSP was given the role during the recent shadow cabinet reshuffle.
She will find herself holding the SNP Government to account on the justice portfolio, under the new shadow cabinet secretary for justice, Russell Findlay MSP.
It will also see her become a member of the Scottish Parliament’s criminal justice committee.
Commenting, Ms Dowey said: “I’m delighted to take on the role of deputy justice spokesperson for the Scottish Conservatives, working with Russell Findlay MSP to hold the SNP to account on their handling of the justice system.
“For years now, the SNP have mismanaged the justice system and seen the court backlog spiral out of control.
“Enough is enough. I want to put an end to the SNP’s soft-touch justice system, get the court backlog under control, and see sentencing guidelines that avoid prison for under 25s scrapped.
“Victims must be at the heart of our criminal justice system, and I’ll be working with my colleague Russell Findlay to ensure their voices are heard by the SNP.”
