A vulnerable disabled women from Ayr has been left with a nightmare pile of raw animal and bird poop at her front door.

The resident, who we have chosen not to name, moved in to the property in Peebles Court recently.

But she has been left emotionally distressed by the horror mess at her entry door - caused mostly by seagulls and pigeons perched on the roof above.

A friend told the Advertiser: "The raw animal and bird faeces at the entry door is unhygienic, unsafe, dangerous, and highly infectious."

The property is owned by Ayrshire Housing, which, acting on the complaint, has agreed to clear the area, including the guttering - and also install netting and spikes to deter pigeons.

The tenant's friend said: "This problem will affect more residents than her however the proximity of the problem to her front door is horrifying.

"She is a vulnerable person whose psycho-emotional health requires support.

"She is living with the huge pile of fecal matter which stenches through the window and seeps into the doorway of the flat makes it airborne and particles are breathed in, which can lead to liver disease, bacterial infections and the already debilitating stress, anxiety and drastic low mood due to unsafe living environment.

"Further bins are required within the car park, ensuring that garbage is secure and will not attract birds.

"Furthermore, if the birds who nest above the entrance are not going to be safely moved as already suggested by residents (the birds nests were inevitable due to the design of the roof of the building) then I believe a roof should be erected to shield the pathway from the huge amount of raw bird faeces due to the bird zone overtaken by seagulls and pigeons within the roof enclosure."

A spokesperson from Ayrshire Housing told the Advertiser: "We are aware of an issue with pigeons sitting on the section of roof above the close door at 18-28 Peebles Court, which has resulted in blocking the gutter which overflows down to the close door.

"We have arranged for the gutter to be cleared within the next 24 hours, the front entrance cleared and over the next few weeks the roof area to be netted and spiked to prevent pigeons settling on the area."
