AYRSHIRE golfers are being offered the chance to play with "Scotland's leading PGA professionals" as a popular event makes its return.

Until 2018, Belleisle Golf Course was the chosen home of The Parkdean Pro-Am, which was one of Scotland’s longest running Pro-Am Competitions, held annually for a total of 31 years.

The event, which was held for charity, was hugely popular and raised an amazing £440,000 for the Ayrshire Hospice over the years.

And now, after a five-year hiatus, Pro-Am golf will be returning to the Ayr golf course.

Entry is now open for the Golf South Ayrshire Pro-Am which will take place at Belleisle on Thursday, September 14.

The format on the day will see a team of three amateurs paired with one of Scotland’s leading PGA Professionals to play Belleisle’s 18 holes, with the best two Stableford scores per hole recorded.

And as was the case previously, all proceeds from the event will go to South Ayrshire Council’s charity partner Beautiful Inside and Out, which provides face-to-face support for bereaved parents and siblings of suicide victims, as well as those struggling for any reason.

The charity promotes feelings of self-worth and offers a Facebook support group and connect with those who have been bereaved by suicide.

The entry fee per team is £350, which includes a breakfast roll and hot drink on arrival, and a two course meal after the golf.

Hole sponsorship is also included for companies entering a team, with their logo displayed at that particular hole. There will also be a short prize-giving following dinner.

South Ayrshire Council portfolio holder for sport and leisure, Councillor Brian Connolly, said he is excited to see the event return, and is hoping golfers of all abilities will get involved.

He commented: “It’s fantastic to see the Pro-Am tournament return to Belleisle Golf Course in the beautiful Belleisle Estate.

"It’s guaranteed to be a superb event and I would encourage golfers of all handicaps to enter to enjoy a day of competition, fun and hospitality, as well as raising money for a very worthwhile local charity.”
