Council bosses have moved to quash social media rumours claiming that pupils at a local academy are identifying as animals.
A viral TikTok video was seen by thousands of people (although it seems to have since been removed) claiming that litter trays were being installed at Ayr Academy.
Rumours had been flying around social media claiming that pupils at the school were identifying as cats, and that the school was adapting to this.
However, these claims have been branded untrue by South Ayrshire Council.
Similar, seemingly conjectured statements had been made about other schools across Ayrshire.
South Ayrshire Council confirmed to the Advertiser that no pupils are currently identifying as animals, as they prepare for the summer school holidays.
A council spokesperson said: "We can confirm that there are no pupils identifying as animals in Ayr Academy and there are no litter trays."
