AN ANIMAL charity has launched an appeal for information after a black hen was found inside a room at a hotel in Ayr.
The bird, which was handed over to the Scottish SPCA's Lanarkshire centre, was found at the Travelodge hotel on the town's Highfield Drive.
An SSPCA spokesperson said in a post on Facebook: "Please note, this is not a rehoming post. Please only contact us if you have relevant information.
"This black hen was found inside a room at the Travelodge in Ayr, KA8 9SH.
"They are now in the care of our Lanarkshire centre.
"If you recognise this animal or have any information please call 03000 999 999.".

The circumstances by which the hen was in the room are currently unknown.
Travelodge has been contacted for comment
