The latest Education Scotland inspection report for Colmonell Primary School and Early Years Centre has been released.

The report has been received as extremely positive, with the school receiving a “very good” rating across all areas examined. 

In April 2023, a team of inspectors from Education Scotland visited the school, where they talked to parents, carers and children and worked closely with the head teacher and staff.

The inspection team praised the strong leadership of the head teacher who has improved attainment and supports families and the local community.

The highly skilled staff team were also commended. 

The report highlights that staff nurture positive and caring relationships throughout the school and Early Years Centre, and children are supported to lead their own learning and are confident, curious and engaged.

The inspection also identified very strong, effective and respectful teamwork across the school and Early Years Centre, with staff displaying commitment to high-quality learning and teaching.

Councillor Martin Dowey, leader of South Ayrshire, Councillor Stephen Ferry, education portfolio holder, and local councillors visited Colmonell Primary School and Early Years Centre to celebrate the glowing inspection report with the school. 

Councillor Stephen Ferry, South Ayrshire Council’s portfolio holder for education, said: "The head teacher and staff at Colmonell Primary School and Early Years Centre should be extremely proud of this achievement. 

"I’m sure the school will continue to work with parents and the wider community to build on this success and maintain the extremely high standards that were identified in the report.”
