South Ayrshire's Scout Leaders have been praised at a recent event at Ayr Town Hall.

The Scottish Volunteer Awards celebrated the individuals who spend countless hours juggling volunteer duties alongside their own busy lives.

Each week Scout leaders take on teaching rock climbing, sailing, camping, performing arts, games and other challenges to young Scouts, and the ceremony honoured their duties.

Six Scout Leaders were awarded a variety of Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards at the Ceremony.

Group Scout Leader Fiona Hainey said: "We are overjoyed that our Scout Group has been recognized in such a way.

"I am so proud of all the 14th Ayrshire Scout Group Leaders and all the Scout Volunteers across the Kyle and Carrick Scout District who work so hard every week to ensure young people in our area are offered such a huge variety of activities.

"Being a volunteer is so rewarding in its own right, but receiving recognition from VASA for volunteer service during Volunteer Week was the icing on the cake."

Councilor Martin Dowey, Leader of the South Ayrshire Council, acknowledged the unwavering commitment and invaluable service to their community from the volunteers.

A huge congratulations to the Scout Leaders of the 14th Ayrshire Scout Group, Prestwick who received a Bronze Award: Michelle Strong (Beaver Leader) Lara Given (Beaver Leader), Joanne King (Scout Leader), Mark Hainey (Scout Leader).

The Silver Award went to Craig Hull (Cub Leader).

The Gold Award went to Fiona Hainey (Group Scout Leader).
