James Westran was caught driivng under the influence on the A77 outside Maybole
A MAYBOLE man has been banned and hit in the pocket after being caught driving while under the influence on the town's bypass.
James Westran, 58, was pulled over by police on the roundabout at the southern end of the bypass, at its junction with Kirkoswald Road, Maybole, late last year.
He pleaded guilty to a charge of driving while unfit through either drink or drugs on the A77 in December 17, 2022.
A not guilty plea to a first charge of refusing to cooperate with giving a sample while suspected to be unfit was accepted by prosecutors.
Westran, of Drumellon Street, Maybole, was fined £640 and disqualified from driving for one year.
