AN AYRSHIRE charity is looking for someone to help give its fund-raising lottery draw a boost.

The Ayrshire Hospice team wants to expand its Lottery Canvassing team to help the organisation fund its patient care in Ayrshire and Arran.

In 2022, £471,941 was raised from the Ayrshire Hospice Lottery which went directly towards patient care and that amount is raised thanks to the work of a small band who promote the weekly prize draw.

The work of a lottery canvasser is to promote the Ayrshire Hospice Lottery and the work of the Hospice to the general public.

Canvassers travel throughout Ayrshire, both door-to-door and at various venues and events, to sign up members to an Ayrshire Hospice Lottery subscription, via direct debit.

The working hours are flexible and can be agreed with the Hospice fundraising team.

Ron Swanson senior, the charity's current lottery canvasser, and assistant fund-raising manager, said: “The role of an Ayrshire Hospice Canvasser is stimulating, motivating and rewarding. It’s a wonderful opportunity to engage and interact with so many interesting people, whilst sharing the dynamic, life-changing Ayrshire Hospice story.

“Personally motivated, knowing that your efforts and drive are making a meaningful and sustainable difference and contributing to the ongoing care and loving support provided by the Hospice.”

Caroline Lyon, senior fundraiser at the Ayrshire Hospice said “The Lottery Canvasser role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who loves working with people and in sales.

"We offer competitive commission rates, and our fund-raising team will be on hand to support you every step of the way.

"The income received from the Ayrshire Hospice Lottery is only made possible by our amazing players, so we are grateful to have the support of our existing Canvassing team and look forward to meeting our next team member.”
