A TROON man has appeared in court accused of striking a teenager with a baseball bat in Ayr - and of stabbing a needle into another man's neck.

Marc Wallace, 38, faces charges of injuring a man and stealing a mobile phone - and possessing an offensive weapon on January 27 last year.

It's claimed he struck the then 16-year-old boy on the head with a baseball bat, causing him to fall to the ground, in Burns Statue Arcade.

Mr Wallace allegedly assaulted a second man during the incident, punching him to the head and causing him to fall to the ground.

The indictment claims he then repeatedly struck the second man on the head with a bottle.

It's alleged that he also held a needle or similar implement to the man's neck, to his injury, and that he then robbed the man of a mobile phone.

He faces a third charge of being in possession of an offensive weapon, namely a baseball bat.

Mr Wallace, of Logan Drive, Troon, pleaded not guilty to the charges when he appeared at a first diet hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court.

Bail was continued by Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart and he will return to face the charges at a later date.
