Plans for a coronation party in Maybole have been revealed, with the event being livestreamed to a cinema-sized screen.

On Saturday, May 6, the Carrick Centre is throwing open its doors from 10am-2pm for the coronation of King Charles to be shown live from its big screen.

The event will be free to the public with a finger buffet featuring Coronation Chicken vol-au-vents, sandwiches and a celebration alcohol-free punch.

There will be stalls with bottles and baking to buy with drinks from the café.

Visitors can also bring their own bottles to celebrate with the nation. And everyone will receive a special cup-cake to mark the occasion made by local baker Heather McNeish’s “A Cake Occasion” business.

There will also be fun and games for children who will be able to be crowned themselves on a special throne and get a special scroll for doing so from the Carrick Centre.

Vice-chair of the centre’s board, Deirdre Cuthbertson said:” All are welcome to mark this historic event.

"We wanted to share this with the people of North Carrick and Maybole in our community hub.”

She thanked South Ayrshire Council’s Destination South Ayrshire for the £1,000 grant that made the coronation party possible.
