Ayrshire residents are being invited to have their say and get in involved in The Ayrshire Link - a proposed new active travel route from Ayr to Barassie.

Following a series of in-person consultation events, an online event will be held on Wednesday, April 19 from 6pm until 7pm.

The proposed ten-mile route, which is being spearheaded by South Ayrshire Council and Ayrshire Roads Alliance, is designed to encourage people to actively travel to work, to safely walk and cycle, and become a tourist destination for visitors to the area.

Consultations recently held in Prestwick, Ayr and Troon have already attracted many people to view the plans and provide feedback including (pictured) mum Jessica Tang and daughter Mae Gillespie from Troon.

Visitors were shown a proposed route on large scale maps and had the opportunity to use VR headsets to view the plans in more detail.

Councillor Bob Pollock, Economic Development Portfolio Holder for South Ayrshire Council said: “The engagement events have been well attended and members of the public are enthusiastic about the proposals.

"However, we realise that not everyone has been able to make it along to the meetings, so the online event is crucial as we continue to gather feedback and fine tune the proposals.”

David Manson, Special Project Officer, Ayrshire Roads Alliance added, “We’ve had a terrific response so far and it’s been great to hear all the very useful suggestions that will help the design team shape the next stage.”

Results of the initial consultations will be published in the summer.
