A POLICE crackdown on illegal drugs and weapons in South Ayrshire saw eight people charged or reported this week.
Officers undertook a "day of action" on Monday, March 20, executing a number of search warrants across the region.
In Birch Terrace, Girvan, two men, aged 24 and 30, were arrested for alleged possession of knives and an offensive weapon.
A further 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly having an offensive weapon and he was also found to be in possession of a class A drug, according to South Ayrshire Police.

The three men appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday (March 21).
Meanwhile, at Lochside Road in Ayr, a 45-year-old man was charged with alleged possession of a quantity of class A and class B controlled drugs and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
At Macadam Square in the town, a quantity of class A drugs was reportedly seized and a 54-year-old woman will be the subject of a report to the fiscal.
And in nearby Philips Square, two women, aged 49 and 29, along with a man, aged 34, were said to have been found in possession of class A drugs - a further report will also be submitted to the fiscal.
