A former Ayr rugby player has been appointed as the Head Coach of New Zealand's national rugby team.

Former Ayr RFC player Scott Robertson will take over as the head of the All Blacks from 2024.

Scott talked about his history at the local club during an interview with former rugby athlete and podcast host Jim Hamilton.

He said: "I was playing over in Northern Ireland and I got a call to go over (to Ayr) and play.

"It was incredible. It was a great time of my life. I was 19 years old and left school and went over to play over there and they'd pay me maybe £50 if I scored a try.

"It was an awesome experience for me. I loved Ayr. We used to go up to Glasgow and there was a little boat on the river that we used to drink on on a Monday night."

Scott will take over as Head Coach from next year.
