AN AYR man has appeared in court charged with grabbing his privates and exposing his backside in front of two girls at a shop in the town.

Neville Blair, 52, denies a charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the Day Today store in Doonfoot Road, and in the street outside, on March 5 this year.

The charge claims that the accused was standing in close proximity to a 14-year-old girl at the time.

It's also alleged that he asked the girl about a particular social media network and that he then asked if she wanted to see pictures, putting her in a state of alarm.

The Crown's complaint further alleges that the accused, of Doonfoot Road, made "disturbing noises" and touched his genitals over his clothing.

He is also accused of putting a 12-year-old girl in a state of fear and alarm by allegedly pulling down his trousers and striking his buttocks.

The complainant states the alleged offence was committed while out in bail, granted on December 12 last year and then on January 13.

Blair, represented by defence solicitor John Gallagher, pleaded not guilty to the charge during a brief hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court.

He was remanded in custody and will be brought back to court at a later date.
