A BREAK-IN at a house in Ayr this week is being linked to a car theft elsewhere in the town the previous day, say police.
Ayrshire cops say a car was taken from the town's Content Street on the evening of Sunday, February 26.
A property in Fulshaw Crescent was then broken into on the night of Monday, February 27.
Police say they are following a single line of enquiry into the two incidents.
Cops say the car, a red Vauxhall Astra, was taken just before 10pm on Sunday night.
An eyewitness claims to have seen a car matching this description close to the Fulshaw Crescent break-in on Monday.
It's believed the Astra may have been displaying fake registration plates at the time.
A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed: “We received a report of the theft of a car from Content Street, Ayr, around 10.15pm on Sunday, 26 February, 2023.
“Officers also attended a report of a housebreaking on Fullshaw Crescent, Ayr around 7.45pm on Monday, 27 February.
“Enquiries into both incidents are ongoing.”
