A PLANNING application for six brand new flats on Ayr High Street has been approved by South Ayrshire Council.
The application, by LMA Architects, could see the new homes built at 116 High Street, with the homes built from vacant office spaces on first and second floor levels.
The building which is located at the corner of Kirk Port and High Street is currently Category B Listed, meaning it is of special architectural or historic interest.

The new proposals could see six one-bedroom flats, which according to the company's location plan, will "bring the properties back into their former use as dwelling flats" and will "support economic growth" through local labour during construction.
Proposals also go on to say that the flats will "improve the area's character and appearance, provide high quality, character residential flats" and that the design of the works will be "sensitive to the historic nature of the buildings".
South Ayrshire Council approved the application on February 2.
