Ayr's MSP has praised an employment agency for their “fantastic work” helping refugees find work in the area.

Siobhian Brown visited Fedcap Scotland’s Ayr office to meet with people helped by the company and talk with the teams that supported them through the company’s campaign to help refugees.

The MSP chatted with Marwan Nigro, a Libyan man who was living in Ukraine at the time of the Russian invasion.

He has since resettled in Ayr where he has worked as a carer in Heathfield House Care Home since November 2022.

Ms Brown said: “I’d like to thank Fedcap Scotland for speaking with me at their Ayr office. The organisation does fantastic work in helping people find employment.

“It was also a privilege to speak to Marwan and hear his inspirational story.”

The MSP also spoke to the Senior Recruitment Business Partner of Teleperformance UK, Lynne Griffiths about her company’s work recruiting Fedcap clients.

The firm provides services such as customer care, technical support, customer acquisition and debt collection for companies and has employed 20 Fedcap Scotland clients over the past few months - with plans to take on more.

Susan Paterson, Operations Director for Fedcap Scotland, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Siobhian Brown to our Ayr office.

“We share the same ambitions for local people to find sustainable employment and I’m delighted that she was able to meet with customers and employers to see how Fedcap Scotland puts this into action.”

Fedcap’s campaign to provide refugees with jobs comes as part of Fair Start Scotland, the Scottish Government’s employment support service, and has resources available in Ukrainian, Russian, and English.
