A MAYBOLE man who allegedly recorded a woman having sex with him without her consent is in custody after it’s claimed he threatened to send images to her family.

Barry McIlroy, 42, appeared from custody after allegedly filming the woman having sexual intercourse before threatening to show the footage of the private act to her family.

It’s claimed Mr McIlroy, currently of HMP Barlinnie, recorded the woman in the private act without her consent on an occasion between April 1 and May 10 last year at an address on Ladywell Road, Maybole.

It's alleged that he then threatened to publish the video online and to send it on to other members of her family, thereby causing the complainer alarm or distress.

The Crown’s indictment claims both charges are aggravated because the alleged victim was the accused’s partner or ex-partner.

When he appeared from custody at Ayr Sheriff Court last week [Wednesday, January 25] Mr McIlroy pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The accused, who was represented by defence solicitor Tony Currie, will return to court at a later date.
