South Ayrshire Council has released an update on the much-anticipated Maybole Community Campus.
Community hub South West and construction group, Morgan Sindall, began work on the near-£60 million project to create the new Community Education Campus in Maybole, set to open in August 2023, back in September 2021.
The new campus, which is being built on the site of the existing Carrick Academy, will incorporate a new academy, with St Cuthbert’s Primary and a new non-denominational primary school that will be formed by amalgamating Cairn and Gardenrose Primary schools.
Alongside early years provision, operating 52 weeks of the year, the campus will have capacity for 1,370 students.
The wider community will benefit from sporting facilities, including two outdoor sports pitches and a new swimming pool which will be available for public use.
A South Ayrshire Council Live Facebook statement said: "Works are progressing well at the brand-new Maybole Community Campus!
"The impressive £59m project will feature two all-weather sports pitches, hard games courts, a rooftop playground and an amphitheatre.
"Once complete, the wider community will be able to access the new swimming pool plus the gym and sports halls."
