A POPULAR British group from the 1990s is gearing up to headline a show in Ayr as part of a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of their debut album.

Space, whose hits included The Female Of The Species and The Ballad Of Tom Jones, will be headlining Ayr's Venue38 as part of the landmark anniversary of their chart-topping album Spiders.

Released on September 16, 1996, Spiders reached the top 5 of the UK album charts and achieved platinum status, catapulting the Liverpudlian band into fame.

Other singles from the album included  Me and You Versus the World., Neighbourhood, and Avenging Angels. 

Space will be supported by The Mocking Byrds, an 'indie-alternative' band from right here in Ayrshire.

Space will play live at Venue38, Carrick Street, Ayr, on Saturday, March 25 at 7pm.
