Plans to open a new Post Office Plans for a new Post Office facility in Whitletts have been cancelled - just weeks before the counter was due to open.

The previous branch at 74 Main Road closed in September 2021 due to the resignation of the operator.

Residents have had to use alternative branches in Hawk Hill, Tams Brig, New Prestwick and Ayr while waiting for the new branch to open.

But the opening of the new store, which was scheduled for this month at 82 Main Road, will no longer go ahead after the new operator decided to withdraw their application.

"This branch will remain temporarily closed.

"Alternative branches in the area include Hawkshill, Tam's Brig, New Prestwick, Ayr and Burns Statue Square."
