POLICE have confirmed the death of a 53-year-old man following a crash on a major road through Ayrshire this morning.
The one-vehicle incident happened around 9am today (Wednesday, December 28) on the A77 near Kirkoswald and involved a Mercedes Actros articulated large goods vehicle.
Emergency services attended and a 53-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His family are aware.
The road was closed and re-opened around 12.30pm.
Ayrshire Police have now issued an appeal for information following the crash.

Sergeant Gordon Stewart said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch.
“In particular, we are appealing for anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to make contact with officers.”
