A MAN who threatened to share intimate images of a woman has been ordered to carry out unpaid work

Girvan resident Kevin Richardson, 33, admitted causing the woman alarm with repeated unwanted emails, texts and Snapchat messages between June 1 and August 4 this year as well as repeat unwanted calls.

The messages were sent in the town’s Young Street, Montgomerie Street and Hamilton Street.

The court was told after she had agreed to meet him one night, he later threatened he would reveal intimate pictures if she refused to stay with him.

Procurator fiscal depute Rosslyn Walsh told a hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court last week: “The witness and accused were in contact on Snapchat, phone and email.

“On July 31 the witness was drinking and answered her phone.

Feeling sorry for him she agreed to go round.

“After consuming alcohol she feel asleep on the couch.

"She awoke at 3.30am, when she left and returned home.

“The next day she received an email [from the accused] .

“He made clear he would send explicit photos to family and friends.

“She contacted police who took a statement and traced the accused on August 5 at his home address.

"He was cautioned and charged and made no reply.”

Richardson, of Elder Avenue, Girvan, was placed on a community payback order with 18 months of social work supervision.
